George Washington, known as Bull City Red, was a central fixture of the pre-war Durham, North Carolina blues scene. An albino African American musician, he was the primary washboard player for Blind Boy Fuller and Rev. Gary Davis, providing rhythmic backing on dozens of seminal ARC sessions. He also recorded several fine sides of his own on guitar and vocals before fading into obscurity.
