Conway Twitty

Long before he became a country music balladeer, Conway Twitty was a rockabilly pioneer born in the heart of the Mississippi Delta at Friars Point. He grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry alongside the deep blues of Helena, Arkansas radio broadcasts. His breakthrough hit 'It's Only Make Believe' (a 1958 MGM smash) showcased the direct pipeline between Delta blues feeling and 1950s rock and roll.
