A titan of the Detroit blues scene for over six decades, Eddie Burns arrived in Michigan in the late 1940s alongside John Lee Hooker, to whom he frequently provided guitar and harmonica backing. A formidable bandleader in his own right, he recorded stinging electric blues for Checker and Harvey Records. He remained the elder statesman of Detroit blues until his passing.
