Geeshie Wiley is one of the most mysterious figures in recorded blues. She recorded just six sides for Paramount in 1930-31, including 'Last Kind Words Blues,' which has been called one of the most haunting recordings in American music. Recent research has identified her as Lillie Mae Scott, possibly from Natchez, Mississippi. Her recordings with Elvie Thomas are among the rarest pre-war blues 78s.
