Marty Robbins

Marty Robbins (born Martin David Robinson in 1925 in Glendale, Arizona; died 1982 in Nashville, Tennessee) was an incredibly versatile country and western singer-songwriter. Recording primarily for Columbia Records, Robbins effortlessly navigated between honky-tonk, pop crooning, and Hawaiian music. He is most deeply associated with his 1959 album Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, which popularized the Western narrative ballad for a modern audience.
