Fird Eaglin Jr., known as Snooks Eaglin, was a blind New Orleans guitarist of extraordinary versatility, capable of playing virtually any song he had ever heard in any style from blues to R&B to pop to country. He was recorded as a folk-blues artist for Folkways in the late 1950s and as an electric R&B and blues guitarist for Imperial, Black Top, and other labels from the 1960s onward. His ability to replicate any guitar style earned him the nickname 'The Human Jukebox,' and his recordings with producer Dave Bartholomew for Imperial captured the classic New Orleans R&B sound. He was a beloved figure in the New Orleans music community until his death in 2009.
