Will Shade

Will Shade, known as Son Brimmer, was the founder and driving force behind the Memphis Jug Band, the most successful jug band of the pre-war era. Between 1927 and 1934, he guided the fluid collective through over 80 recordings for Victor, blending country blues, vaudeville, and ragtime. He remained in Memphis his entire life and died in poverty.
