Love Her with a Feeling

Known as "The Guitar Wizard," Tampa Red was one of the most prolific and polished artists on the Bluebird label. By 1938, he had fully transitioned from acoustic street-corner blues to the sophisticated club sound. On "Love Her with a Feeling," Red played his signature slide guitar lines with a polished technique that pointed clearly toward the coming electric era. His clean, weeping slide work, backed by a rolling piano rhythm section, provided a sophisticated blueprint for the post-war slide masters like Elmore James and Muddy Waters, illustrating the critical transition between the acoustic and electric periods.
