Floyd Dixon was a West Coast blues and R&B pianist who was one of the direct successors to Charles Brown's smooth piano style. Born in Texas and raised in Los Angeles, he recorded for Supreme, Aladdin, Specialty, and other labels, producing hits including 'Dallas Blues,' 'Wine, Wine, Wine,' and 'Hey Bartender.' His piano style bridged boogie-woogie, blues, and early R&B, and he was a consistent presence on the West Coast club circuit for decades. He experienced a career revival in the 1990s and 2000s, recording for Alligator Records.
