Harding 'Hop' Wilson was a singular figure in Texas blues, adapting the twin-neck lap steel guitar (typically associated with Western swing) to a deeply melancholic, down-home blues style. Recording for Goldband and Ivory in the late 1950s and early 1960s, his heavily amplified, sustaining slide work influenced later Texas guitarists. A fiercely local artist, he famously refused to tour outside the Houston area.
