Iverson Minter, known as Louisiana Red, was a fiercely traditional purveyor of the Muddy Waters and Elmore James slide guitar styles whose life was marked by extreme tragedy and wandering. He recorded under several names for Chess, Atlas, and Roulette before finding steady footing in the 1960s blues revival. Relocating to Germany in 1981, he spent his later decades as a revered expatriate playing intense traditional blues across Europe.
