Lowell Fulson (also spelled Fulsom) was a West Coast blues guitarist and singer whose career spanned from the mid-1940s to the late 1990s. Of Choctaw and African American heritage, he developed a smooth, jazzy guitar style that influenced B.B. King (who worked in Fulson's band early in his career). His recordings for Swing Time, Checker, and Kent produced hits including 'Every Day I Have the Blues' (later a signature song for B.B. King), 'Reconsider Baby' (covered by Elvis Presley), 'Blue Shadows,' and 'Tramp' (later a hit for Otis Redding and Carla Thomas). He was one of the most consistent hitmakers in the blues.
