Nicknamed "The Memphis Blues Boy," Nix was known for his flashy personality, tap-dancing, and sharp drumming style. He was a core member of the loose collective of Memphis musicians that orbited the WDIA radio station and Sun Studio, frequently playing alongside B.B. King, Bobby "Blue" Bland, and James Cotton.
