William Arnold, known as Billy Boy Arnold, is a Chicago harmonica player and singer who was one of the youngest members of the first generation of postwar Chicago blues artists. As a teenager, he studied with both Sonny Boy Williamson I (shortly before Williamson's murder) and John Lee 'Sonny Boy' Williamson II, and he played on Bo Diddley's first recording session for Chess in 1955. His own recordings for Vee-Jay, including 'I Wish You Would' and 'I Ain't Got You,' were later covered by the Yardbirds and became staples of the British blues-rock movement. Arnold has continued performing and recording into his later years and is one of the last surviving members of the classic Chess/Vee-Jay era.
