Curley James Weaver was an Atlanta-area blues guitarist who was part of the close-knit community of Georgia musicians that included Blind Willie McTell, Barbecue Bob, and Buddy Moss. He recorded for Columbia, OKeh, Decca, and Sittin' In With between 1928 and 1952, both solo and as an accompanist to McTell and others. His warm, fingerpicking guitar style was characteristic of the Atlanta school, and his long friendship and musical partnership with Blind Willie McTell was one of the most enduring in pre-war blues.
