Mighty Joe Young

Joseph Young, known as Mighty Joe Young, was a Chicago blues guitarist whose smooth, sophisticated style made him a respected session player and bandleader on the West Side. He worked extensively with Willie Dixon, Otis Rush, Magic Sam, and Koko Taylor, and his own recordings for Ovation, Sonet, and Black & Blue showcased a warm, melodic guitar approach that drew from both the West Side and jazz traditions. He was a key member of the Chicago blues community for over four decades.
