This one goes back before the usual postwar giants and shines a light on the Chicago builders who laid the floorboards. Tampa Red, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Big Maceo, and Washboard Sam show that Chicago blues was already a full-grown sound before Muddy and Wolf came stomping in.

For today's 70th episode, we sit at the crossroads of two very important events. First, we have our tenth seventh blues show where we covered Chicago blues, and secondly, I'll be heading to Tampa this weekend. So we'll be hearing from the Chicago blues pioneers, the four kings of pre-1950: Tampa Red, Sonny Boy Williamson I, Big Maceo, and Big Bill Broonzy.
