Eurreal Wilford Montgomery, known as Little Brother Montgomery, was a Louisiana-born pianist whose composition 'Vicksburg Blues' (also known as '44 Blues' or 'The Forty-Fours') became one of the most performed and recorded pieces in the blues piano repertoire. He first recorded in 1930 and maintained an active career for over five decades, working out of Chicago from the 1940s onward as both a solo performer and accompanist. His style bridged barrelhouse, boogie-woogie, and jazz piano, and he was a respected figure in both the traditional blues community and among younger musicians. He recorded for Bluebird, Folkways, Prestige, and other labels and was a fixture of Chicago's blues clubs until his death.
